More than just a pretty tag.

In my opinion, they have the cutest labels in the yarn biz. But the real reason I can't resist Blue Sky Alpaca's yarns is just that - the yarns. This season, I went to market planning to add one new Blue Sky yarn line to our offerings at Loops. Of course, I went crazy for TWO and had to have both! (See, you're not the only one who can't resist a new yarn ;-)

The first is Suri Merino, an all-new yarn for fall 2007. Blue Sky says "opulent meets orthodox in this gorgeous new single ply yarn in 14 amazing hues." It's 60% baby suri, 40% merino, knits to a DK gauge, 164 yards, and the colors are super rich. There are just three patterns so far - but I'm sure more will be forthcoming for this instant classic.

The second yarn was as irresistible as casting on a new project when you have 10 already on the needles! What can I say, I just fell for the Royal Alpaca, a very rare quality of 100% luxury alpaca fiber. It is sooooo baby soft. And the designs are great:

The other cool thing about Royal is the large amount of yardage on each skein. One skein makes the whole newborn Royal Baby Set - hat, kimono and booties!

Of course, we continue to stock the ever-popular Blue Sky Bulky Alpaca/Wool, for the ever-popular Cable Couture Bag, as well as great new patterns that are always popping up, like this one from the Fall Knitscene:

So buy some Blue Sky, admire the label...then rip that sucker off and start casting on!

So, the marketing deal, is the suri part coming from the Tomkat baby or is she named after a little sheepy-goat animal? In need of a little fiber education... Next stop: Wikipedia.
