Loops Troops Tuesday: Meet Ingrid!
We continue our Loops staff introductions with Ingrid - the very first Loops employee! I still remember those crazy months of mass-marking huge quantities of yarn. Ingrid working on our old glassed-in porch "like a machine" - pricing each skein with her trademark German speed and precision. And yet always ready with a quick smile or a kind word. Many Loops employees have become what I call Ingrid-dependent, addicted to her excellent taste, eagerness to help and gentle advice (OK, sometimes not so gentle - as in when she commands, "Rrrrip it out!").
It's hard for me to choose a picture of Ingrid. There are so many, but she generally dislikes any picture I take of her. (I happen to think they all look great!). This is one I think she can at least tolerate:
By the way, Ingrid is wearing a pattern she designed for Loops: "Pinch Me" mitts & neckwarmer in Lobster Pot 100% Cashmere. It takes 3 skeins for the set (or 4 skeins if you want the mitts longer and scrunchy). You can make one skein a contrast color for a little fun. This was our most popular gift-knit last holiday season. This week, if you click the link to order some Lobster Pot online and mention the blog, we will include the pattern for free! (But don't worry, Ingrid, you will still get paid your portion ;-)
Here were Ingrid's (typically) brief answers to my 12 questions. I'm sure she kept them short so she could get back to her knitting:
1. What's your middle name? Christiane
2. What's your favorite all-time yarn? Cashmere and Koigu
3. How long have you been knitting, and who taught you? Since I was six years old. My mother taught me.
4. What's your favorite food & drink? Fruit, Oatmeal and Pinot Noir
5. Three favorite songs? All famous Arias with Placido Domingo, Luciano Pavarotti and IL Divo
6. What's your favorite hand-knit or crochet item to wear? The Linen Skirts.
Note from Shelley: Ingrid's newest pattern, for the Swishy Eyelet Skirt in Euroflax Linen Sport is now available in-store; or call to order it by phone! Here's a photo:
7. How big is your stash? Big.
8. What's your favorite movie? "Casablanca."
9. What makes you happiest? Being with family, knitting and gardening.
10. What's your favorite color? Pink, winter white and black.
11. Your biggest pet peeve is? Nick, ha ha. (Shelley's note: Nick is Ingrid's husband)
12. Name three things about you most people don't know. Impatient, Hardheaded and Perfectionist
Like we didn't already know the Perfectionist part!
